AECB’s ‘Majd and the Librarian’ Animated Ad Film
What if borrowing a book could teach us something deeper about commitment? That’s the idea at the heart of Majd and the Librarian, an animated short film created by Serviceplan Middle East for Al Etihad Credit Bureau (AECB), and brought to life by our team at Hanzo Films.
The film opens on a young man rediscovering a dusty old book in his attic—a forgotten piece of his childhood. As he flips through its pages, we’re taken back to a charming public library, where a young Majd had once borrowed the book but never returned it. Years later, he revisits the library to set things right, only to find a heartfelt note from the now-retired librarian: “Every word kept. Counts.”
The metaphor is simple but meaningful—highlighting the importance of keeping your word, whether in books or in life. And it’s told without a single line of dialogue.
Animation That Leaves an Impression
The short film was co-directed by Esfandiar Haji and Shahriar Ghatre, with animation by Vulturehead Studio. The production was managed end-to-end by us at Hanzo Films. We are hailed as one of the top animation studios in Dubai, especially when it comes to emotionally grounded storytelling.
The animation brings a soft, hand-crafted feel to each frame. With carefully designed expressions and a timeless setting, the visuals help create space for the message to land gently—never forced, always felt.
A Campaign Rooted in Storytelling
This brand film for AECB takes a traditionally serious topic and reframes it through a relatable everyday moment. By using the act of borrowing a book as a metaphor, the story becomes accessible without losing its emotional depth.
Majd and the Librarian reminds us that small actions—like returning a book—can hold meaning. It’s a story that stays with you and makes you think about the promises we make in everyday life.
